Grades will be based on attendance and participation.  Students are expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts throughout the quarter.  All absences require a note from home showing absence from the entire school day.  For each unexcused absence, ten points will be subtracted from your grade. 

Each class day, students have a chance to earn 10 points.  A student will earn all ten points if he or she is on time, has his or her music and a pencil, doesn’t disrupt the rehearsal, and generally participates with a positive attitude.  If a student is well enough to attend school, he or she is well enough to sing in class.  Points will be lost each day if a student has an unexcused lateness, is not prepared, or does not participate in the class.

Occasionally there will be written assignments and they will be factored into the overall class grade for the quarter.

Each concert or performance is a test grade.  Absence from a concert would give a student 0 on that test.  If there is an emergency, please call the choral department prior to the concert and leave a message at 703-228-6362.  Serious illness or death in the family are the only excused absences from a concert.
